Beef Teriyaki
Beef Teriyaki Recipe
Beef Teriyaki is a delicious Japanese dish that brings together tender beef and a rich, savory sauce. This easy-to-follow recipe will help you create a delightful meal that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons mirin (sweet rice wine)
- 2 tablespoons sake (optional)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Cooked rice (for serving)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake (if using), brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Mix well to create the marinade.
Step 2: Marinate the Beef
Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator. For best results, marinate for 2 hours.
Step 3: Cook the Beef
Heat a large pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef (reserve the marinade) to the hot pan. Sear the beef for about 2-3 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally.
Step 4: Prepare the Sauce
Pour the reserved marinade into the pan with the beef. Bring it to a simmer. Then, add the cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce, stirring constantly until it reaches your desired consistency.
Step 5: Serve
Once the sauce is thickened, remove the pan from the heat. Serve the beef teriyaki over cooked rice and garnish with chopped green onions.
Tips
- For added flavor, you can grill the beef instead of pan-frying.
- Serve with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
- Feel free to adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less brown sugar.
Enjoy your homemade Beef Teriyaki!
